Goat Milk Soap & Shampoo

Goat Milk Soap & Shampoo

Soap Bars. It doesn’t take many goats to develop a surplus of milk.  One way to use that surplus is to make goat milk soap.  Goat milk soap is wonderful for folks with dry or sensitive skin or for those who suffer from skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.   It is also perfect for those with wonderfully healthy skin and want it to stay that way. We handcraft ours out of raw goat milk fresh from the barn.

Making goat milk soap fits neatly into our DIY mentality on the homestead.  And, goat milk soap is truly beneficial to your skins health.    It is loaded with vitamins and minerals which promote healthy skin function and facilitate’s skin renewal.  Combine goat’s milk with your favorite combinations of oils from coconut, olive, or avocado along with some essential oils and you have a gentle yet effective cleanser made just the way you like it.

How to Use:
Rinse your hair with warm water and rub the shampoo bar in the palms of your hands for a few moments, then apply to your hair.

Rinse your hair with warm water and rub the shampoo bar in the palms of your hands for a few moments, then apply to your hair. Gently and thoroughly massage into a lather making sure you apply to the entire scalp and hair shafts.

The shampoo bar can also be gently rubbed directly onto your hair, which is especially helpful for long or thick hair. Lather, rinse, and repeat as needed.

There is no need for a “conditioner”. However, a vinegar rinse is most effective when used in combination with the shampoo bar. To make a vinegar rinse:
1. Add 2-3 tablespoons of vinegar (apple cider vinegar works best) to a spray bottle.
2. Fill the bottle with 8-12 ounces of water. This will last for a few shampoos and your hair will not smell like vinegar, I promise. You can also add a few drops of essential oil to make your hair smell great. (Essential oil suggestions: Rosemary, Tea Tree, Lavender or Mint).
3. Thoroughly rinse with warm (not hot) water, then with slightly cooler water to finish. Note: Overly warm water can strip away natural oils scalp resulting in the scalp over producing sebum and leading to greasy hair.
4. Blot hair with a towel to remove as much moisture as possible, then gently comb or brush/syle.

Everyone’s hair is different. Some may find that they get great results right away after the first use or two of the shampoo bar. For others hair there may be an short adjustment period. It is important not to use too much shampoo as it takes very little to lather and get the hair and scalp clean.

If you commit to the switch to goat’s milk shampoo you will find your hair will adjust and you will never look back. However, if you really don’t like it, just use it as soap 🙂

“I love my goat milk soap and shampoo. The soap is gentle on my dry chapped hands yet lathers nicely.  The shampoo leaves my hair soft and manageable without the need for conditioner.  It’s perfect for a daily shampoo.  I like the fact that it doesn’t make my scalp itch or take the curl out of my hair.”   ~  Virginia, Minnesota January 2019

“I started using Fasching Farm Goat Milk Shampoo about 6 weeks ago. It’s amazing! My hair feels lighter and lays/styles better than it ever has. I ran out for a couple days and went back to regular shampoo and conditioner and my hair wasn’t the same. It felt heavy and unclean. I will never let myself run out of the shampoo again. I use the vinegar rinse after washing and it takes out the tangles. It is the perfect shampoo! Thanks for making such amazing products!
